Acrylic CNC Routing Service

American Acrylics offers precision acrylic CNC routing for custom parts with tight tolerances — no order minimums, fast quotes, and US-made quality from our Lake Zurich, IL shop since 1973. From simple flat profiles to complex 3D shapes, our CNC routing service handles it all.

What is Acrylic CNC Routing?

CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routing uses a computer-controlled cutting tool to mill and profile acrylic sheet and block to precise dimensions. Unlike laser cutting, CNC routing can handle thicker acrylic (over 1″), three-dimensional profiles, pockets, slots, and complex edge details that lasers cannot achieve. It’s the process of choice for structural acrylic components, thick display parts, and precision-machined acrylic assemblies.

Our CNC routers are programmed directly from your design files, ensuring dimensional accuracy and repeatability whether we’re cutting one piece or hundreds.

Who We Work With

Our acrylic CNC routing service serves customers across a wide range of industries:

Retail Display & Point-of-Purchase

CNC-routed acrylic is the standard for high-quality retail display fixtures. We cut display bases, pedestals, product holders, literature racks, and custom POP components with the precision that brand standards demand.

Medical & Scientific

Precision-machined acrylic is widely used in laboratory equipment, medical device enclosures, and research fixtures. Our tight tolerances and clean-room-compatible materials meet the demands of these critical applications.

Signage & Architectural

From dimensional letter blanks to architectural panel profiles, CNC routing gives signage fabricators and architects the clean edges and precise dimensions that finished installations require.

Industrial & Manufacturing

We machine acrylic fixtures, jigs, guards, face plates, lenses, and enclosure components for manufacturers who need a reliable acrylic CNC cutting service with consistent quality and repeatable results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can you CNC route?

We primarily route acrylic (Plexiglas®, Lucite®, and other brands) in cast and extruded grades. We work with clear, colored, mirrored, UV-filtering, abrasion-resistant, and other specialty acrylic grades. Contact us if you have a specific material in mind.

What’s the difference between CNC routing and laser cutting?

Laser cutting is ideal for thinner material (up to about 1″) and produces flame-polished edges automatically. CNC routing handles thicker material, 3D profiles, pockets, and slots that lasers can’t cut. For many projects, either process works — we’ll recommend the best fit for your application and budget.

Is there a minimum order quantity for CNC routing?

No minimums. We route single pieces for prototypes and R&D just as readily as production runs. Setup time is factored into our quoting, so you always know what you’re paying for.

How do I submit a CNC routing job?

Contact us via the form below or by phone. Send your CAD file (DXF, DWG, or similar), the material and thickness you need, quantity, and any special requirements. We’ll review the file and get back to you with pricing and lead time.
